Yesterday, Jennifer Glenton, Service Manager spoke to BBC Radio Tees about our Sit Up Service. Jennifer was joined by one of our residents, Anne, who used the service before becoming a resident at Bridge House.
The project provides shelter, warmth and safety overnight for 3 rough sleepers. Access to the service is by referral from the Emergency Duty Team, and places are available from 22.00 – 09.00.
Clients using the service are able to use our shower facilities while they have their clothes washed and dried. A full pack of toiletries and towels are provided. We will have fresh night clothes ready for them to wear while they wait for their items to be dried. Project workers have food and drinks available for them during the night.
At 09.00 the next morning support staff from the Local Authorities Housing Team work with the clients to ensure appropriate accommodation is found as soon as possible.
The service has now been used 191 times since 29th August. We are so grateful to Stockton Borough Council and Middlesbrough Council for funding this project.
