In May three of our residents and one ex-resident were selected to represent Middlesbrough Recovery Football Team in a fixture against three Liverpool recovery Football Teams. The Players spent two days in Liverpool drawing one game and winning the other two. This resulted in the team being victorious and returning back home with the winning trophy.
At the end of May the Middlesbrough Recovery Football Team were invited to Maiden Castle, Durham to participate in the initial Gary Hanlon Memorial Trophy. Once again the players returned home triumphant after a 4-1 victory in the final against North East Athletic.
In June Bridge House entered a five aside tournament at Thornaby Pavillion along with other teams from around the area. After several group games, a quarter final and a semi final Bridge House found themselves in a final which they won 4-1. This was a team organised by ex-resident Steven Sykes as staff were unable to attend, so the credit for this success must be attributed to Steven.
Bridge House has been extremely successful regarding football tournaments in recent months, some of which have been recorded in the local press and on radio.
There are future tournaments in the pipeline and a trip planned to Ireland so residents have the opportunity to participate in these events if they show an excellent team ethic and commitment to training.
